The 46th edition of the Efebo d’Oro Film Festival, taking place in Palermo from November 9 to 17 2024, will feature a focus on the work of French director and screenwriter Bertrand Bonello. For the first time in Palermo, Bonello will present some of his most significant films during the festival, meet the audience, give a masterclass, and preside over the jury of the international competition for films adapted from literary works – a competition he won last year with his most recent film, La Bête.
The programme will include Bonello’s extremely rare debut medium-length film Qui je suis – D’après Pier Paolo Pasolini (1996), an adaptation of an autobiographical text by Pier Paolo Pasolini; Le Pornographe (2001), his second feature film, starring Jean-Pierre Léaud; the remarkable Nocturama (2016); and his latest feature, La Bête (2023), based on Henry James’s 1903 short story The Beast in the Jungle, which was awarded the Efebo d’Oro exactly one year ago.
The “Focus” dedicated to Bertrand Bonello is organised in collaboration with, and with the support of the Institut Français Italia.
